Backup in Windows 98SE

Windows comes with its own backup utility, and this utility may be all you have available for back up.

To back up files, follow these steps:

1. Click the Start button > Programs > Accessories > System Tools, and then click Backup.
   
2. When you click the Backup tab, you will be asked if you want to Create a backup set. Selecting this option will back up your entire hard drive.

Hint:
If you back up your whole hard disk you will have a very large file. So if you have your installation disk, only back up your data files.

 

3. To create a smaller set of selected files, use the Select Files To Backup window.

4. Click Next Step.

In the Where to backup window, click the destination for the backup as above.

NOTE: You can also back up your files to a network drive.

5. Click Start to Backup. If you have created a new backup job, you are prompted to name the new backup job.
   
6. Backup informs you when the backup operation is finished.
